‘fire’s the sun, unwindin’ itself out o’ the wood’
we will explore the ancient art of preparing, lighting and maintaining a fire - including splitting and grading wood, preparing a bundle using natural tinders, lighting using a fire striker or steel.
this will be integrated with guided sensory experiences to support us in our connection to fire, the rest of the group and all of nature.
'borne' means 'to be carried'. fire will carry us through this workshop. we will work with the essence of fire, touching on some of the possible ways we can work with this element and, in doing so, connect more deeply to the natural world.
this workshop will be held at a beautiful site, on the edge of epping forest. will be outside whatever the weather with a parachute tarpaulin for shelter if it rains. a warm herbal ‘fire tea’ will be made over the fire.
join us as the evenings get longer and warmer. all welcome, no previous experience needed.
this workshop is for you if you would like to:
- learn practical fire skills
- nurture your wellbeing
- connect to nature
facilitators: amy and rhiannon
created and began facilitating ‘fireborne’ in 2018 as a bespoke workshop for different organisations including a public workshop for ‘hackney herbal’ and CPD workshop for the staff team at ‘rangers: natural play and learning’. find out more about them here.

we work with practitioners from related nature based fields to host workshops.
we believe that being connected to nature is equally important for adults as it is children. the journey of deepening this connection and working with nature is endless and has countless wellbeing benefits on an individual and collective level for humankind as well as for the greater web of nature - the plant, animal kingdoms and beyond - that we are interconnected with. see below for our current/upcoming workshops. join our newsletter to stay up to date.
